Want a comprehensive tool for the outdoors? This slick tool has a large magnesium bar with a firesteel attached. The bar is set in a wood handle and a compass and thermometer are set in the wood handle. A striker is attached to the handle with a piece of paracord.
The firesteel can be used by itself to start tinders, as a signal flare, or to light the magnesium. If the firesteel by itself is not enough, scrape off a small pile of the magnesium and use the firesteel to ignite it, giving you a white hot fire that can light just about anything. The wood handle can even be used as tinder if necessary.
