How MachineWise Started

MachineWise began the way many great tools do: in a garage.

Founded by Deylan Crawford, a career machinist with a background in the jewelry industry, the brand was born from a desire to build something meaningful rather than produce work for someone else. After years of learning the craft, mastering machines, and refining precision, Crawford set up a mill and began experimenting—making anything that kept his hands moving.

A chance introduction to balisongs changed everything.

What followed was a relentless process of iteration. Each design became more refined. Machining sharpened. Late nights turned into obsession. The result was a balisong that didn’t follow anyone else’s playbook—yet earned respect from both first-time flippers and seasoned collectors.

How It’s Going Today

MachineWise is now a tight-knit team of designers, machinists, and makers operating out of Phoenix, Arizona. Everything is built in-house. Everything is tested internally. Standards stay high—even when it slows production.
