Spyderco Military 2 C36GP2 – USA-Made Flagship EDC Pocket Knife

Designed by Spyderco co-founder Sal Glesser as the ideal knife for forward-deployed military personnel, the original Military™ became one of the cutlery industry's most recognizable folders. The Spyderco Military 2 C36GP2 is the long-awaited second generation, and the single biggest change is under the scales: the LinerLock has been replaced by Spyderco's Compression Lock®, which is stronger and keeps your fingers entirely clear of the edge path when you close the knife one-handed.

The 4.00" CPM S30V blade is full-flat ground and satin finished, giving the Spyderco Military 2 C36GP2 a thin, efficient cutting geometry backed by a premium powder-metallurgy stainless steel that holds an edge far longer than conventional steels. Heavier stainless liners add structural strength and anchor a four-position clip for tip-up or tip-down, left or right carry, while skeletonized construction and peel-ply-textured black G-10 scales keep the weight down to 4.4 oz. Built in Golden, Colorado, it is a full-size EDC pocket knife with a genuine pedigree.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Compression Lock on the Spyderco Military 2 C36GP2 work?
The Spyderco Military 2 C36GP2 uses a Compression Lock®, in which a leaf of the liner wedges between the blade tang and a stop pin. Load pushes the lock leaf into compression rather than shear, so it is very strong, and the release sits on the spine — your fingers never cross the closing edge.

What is CPM S30V steel and why does it matter?
CPM S30V is a US-made powder-metallurgy stainless steel with vanadium carbides for wear resistance. On the Spyderco Military 2 C36GP2 it delivers long edge retention and strong corrosion resistance, which is why it remains a benchmark premium EDC blade steel.

How do I sharpen the Spyderco Military 2 C36GP2?
CPM S30V is more abrasion resistant than budget steels, so use diamond or ceramic abrasives on the Spyderco Military 2 C36GP2 at about 15 to 20 degrees per side. It takes longer to reprofile than softer steels, but the edge lasts considerably longer between touch-ups.

What is a leaf-shaped blade?
A leaf-shaped blade widens through the middle and tapers to a centered tip, balancing slicing belly against piercing ability. Combined with the full-flat grind on the Spyderco Military 2 C36GP2, it produces a thin, low-drag edge that cuts well above its 0.145" stock thickness.

Is the Spyderco Military 2 C36GP2 plain edge or serrated?
This listing is the PlainEdge™ configuration, so the Spyderco Military 2 C36GP2 has a fully unserrated 4.00" cutting edge — the more versatile choice for general EDC and the simpler of the two to maintain.

Is the Spyderco Military 2 C36GP2 legal to carry?
The Spyderco Military 2 C36GP2 is a manually opened folder with a 4.00" blade. Some states and cities cap carry at 3" or 3.5", so confirm your local blade-length ordinance before carrying it in public.

Is the Spyderco Military 2 C36GP2 made in the USA?
Yes. The Spyderco Military 2 C36GP2 is manufactured at Spyderco's own factory in Golden, Colorado, which is part of why its fit, finish, and lock tolerances are held so tightly.

Where can I buy the Spyderco Military 2 C36GP2?
You can buy the Spyderco Military 2 C36GP2 at Going Gear, an authorized Spyderco dealer.
