candleGreentech Media has an interesting article up about a thermoeletric material from Nextreme Thermal Solutions that takes the heat generated by a candle and uses it to power an LED, which is brighter than the light from the candle itself.  Pretty cool technology, and great to see the leaps and bounds that thermoelectric technology has made. The eco blogs are interested in the adaption of such technology to reclaim waste heat from factories and such, but I am waiting for the lighting setup that illuminates my campground using the heat from my fire. Maybe even a flashlight that generates light using the heat from electrodes attached to my armpits!
