- Great knives at an even greater price!
I just bought two of these 511's to replace one I gave to a fellow firefighter and another to keep in my kitchen to use for cooking prep. For those of you who don't know, Mora Knives are some of the sharpest and best blades you can get for the price. The blade angle is known as a Scandinavian Grind (aka: Scandi Grind) and is one of the best cutting edges known to man (IMO). They are the easiest to sharpen and keep sharp too! These are Carbon Steel and will rust if not taken care of. I will force a patina on these in a couple of days to prevent them from rusting as easy. Mora also makes this style of knife in Stainless Steel for those who don;t want to "fuss" with the care of carbon steel or if you will be using the knife near salt water. I have many knives and quite a few of them are Mora's of one style or another. You won't regret buying a few of these knives or any other style they make. The spine on the 511 is not sharpened to a 90 degree angle, so if you want to use it with a ferro-rod, you will need to file or grind it to a sharp flat edge.
