Leatherman Wave Multitool
- Product Review (submitted on March 9, 2014):
I've had my Wave for at least 6 years. It has worked on all manner of projects. It is very well built, I have no problem using it was a makeshift hammer or other general mis-use. I believe this one is a newer version, perhaps a different steel in the blades? Out of box, the blades were nice and sharp, I only worked on the plain edge blade after cutting through a box directly onto a brick. Everything locks up nice and tight >6 years later, besides edge touchups all I've done to it is add a bit of oil now and then.
For me the wave is almost perfect, my 2 relatively minor drawbacks were that is didn't have a pocketclip built in (I got on as an accessory and it works nicely) The other was that while the edges have a bevel to them, while it's in the pocket it can still occasionally be uncomfortable, almost like a poke. A bit of time with a sanding drum on the dremel would probably take care of it, but I never bothered because it didn't bother me enough, and with the pocketclip it basically doesn't happen anymore.
