Small and great for EDC.
This little torch is exactly what I expected after reading all the reviews. It’s small, powerful, rugged, and the power selections are appropriate and accurate. I’ve found lost keys in the yard with it, and I use the moonlight mode for late-night trips to the water closet. The magnet on the end cap is practical and useful, as is the clip. I position the clip over the on/off switch, and I’ve not had a problem with the light turning on unexpectedly in my pocket. I can’t speak for battery life, as I haven’t owned the light long enough to run through a few batteries. But overall, after a few short weeks of use, it appears to be a very capable unit. I’m sure my fondness for it will grow with each passing day (night?). It will see plenty of use in my hands.

Olight S1 Baton L2 big thumbs up!
Olight S1 Baton L2 I bought 2 of these when they were first released. One for each of my vehicles. They are clipped to the organizer on the visor where I keep basically a back up EDC basics kit. How many times do end up need to find or fix something in the dark and you don't have a flash light handy. These well designed little guys are the perfect answer and are worth every penny. I have used both flashlight numerous times, and they are always there ready to go.

BIG FEATURES DELIVER in this tiny light!
Great EDC light. Small size fits perfectly in the "watch pocket / coin pocket / match pocket" of my jeans... Giving the little pocket, originally designed to protect a pocket watch, a purpose! Let's see... Pocket clip... Use it to protect on/off button from accidentally deploying and as guide as to where button is when turning it on/off in a dark environment. Magnetic tail cap... Super handy feature that gets utilized a lot. 500 lumens... Quite ample from light this size and easy to deploy when needed. This light was instrumental in tracking my deer at night this archery season... The watertight / waterproof construction gave me confidence as I crawled at times in 2 feet of snow with light in hand. I found this light (and Going Gear) through Sootch... See his honest review for more detail. This is my EDC light... Need I say more?

Almost Perfect EDC Light
Olight is a great brand; good quality, good customer service, good value, etc. All that is reflected in the S1. Of the several Olight Batons I have, the S1 is the smallest, but is still able to put out an incredible 500 lumens. Besides the size that sets it apart from other Batons, its TIR lens allows for more "spill" in its light. This is ideal for EDC, since you want more situational awareness offered by more "spill" versus the "spotlight" you get on many lights that are more suited for searching. My ONLY gripe with this light is it's inability to recharge without taking out the battery. For a light I plan to use everyday, I want to recharge it without constantly taking out the battery and risk prematurely wearing out the water/dust sealing o-ring (thankfully they provide an extra in the packaging). Other than that it would be the perfect EDC light. As a result, my wife prefers this light because of its smaller size, and since she doesn't use flashlights as much as I do on a daily basis, she doesn't have as much of a need for a recharge feature. Still a great light overall, and well worth the money if you need a lot of lumens without taking up a lot of space in your pocket.

One is none, two is one.
Great light. I've been carrying it for over a year and it is always there when I need it working on my car or walking my dog at night. It's so good you should buy two.

Awsome little light...it's all I need to carry everyday!
The S1 Batons are little POWER houses of brightness. They really pack a punch & the magnet feature is AWESOME! I've bought 5+ of these and 4 of the limited additions for myself and for gifts. Everyone I show them to is very impressed. Keep up the Great innovative work Olight & THANKS Going Gear for bringing them to me at a great price!

Great pocket light--very bright and easy to carry!
I got this little dynamo a few weeks ago and have been using it daily ever since. I love this light! I like the broad, bright floody beam with essentially no spill--it really lights up a large area in front of you. The medium setting is perfect for general use and that is the setting I use 80% of the time. It seems to be very well made and quite rugged. The intuitive interface with the side button is well designed. I have not had a problem with the light accidentally coming on in my pocket--the button is recessed enough to prevent that. I positioned the clip to be next to the button so that I can easily find the button at night--some have complained the button is not tactile enough and is difficult to find. This solves that problem for me. Can't recommend this light enough. Great light for its tiny size! It will disappear in your pocket!

A Bright Nugget, Great for Light Duty EDC
Have this little nugget of a light for about a month now. Also own two other CR123 lights one of them being an Olight S10 Baton.

I'm have to agree this makes an excellent light duty EDC flashlight. Other than "playing" with checking out brightness, modes, etc., I've used it to light the way from my car for about a block, to light the door to find the keyhole when it was too dark to see, to find a lost object in a movie theater, and to do one DYI repair job.

I'd you need a heavy duty EDC light then check the SPECS as CR123's and RCR123s battery do not last as long as 18650 batteries, but they are light and take up little space so it's easy to carry back ups for heavy duty uses.

Love the magnet! Kicks the light up a couple of notches in utility.

NOTE: Unlike the previous generation lights the S10. S20, etc. this light does not have an electronic lockout. I miss this as it requires that you discipline yourself to rotate the pocket clip as that the light isn't accidentally activated in your pocket or bag. In the month this happened once. But, being a cargo pants kind of person instead of being a man purse person, I carry a fair amount of stuff in my pockets.

As for price : value ratio it's good.
Build quality seems very good, but only time & use will give us a clear indication of durability.

I do think Olight hits a nice sweet spot with this light the size of a Chunky™.

You won't regret buying this, like other assorted junk.
Well built and a quality device I must say, and I'm particular about electronics and outdoor gear. It's all and more in terms of performance as outlined by Sootch on his video channel. It's part of my daily carry gear now!

The best EDC light currently available.
The Olight S1-Baton is the best EDC light I have ever encountered. It replaces a Fenix PD-22, and does so with aplomb. The beam pattern, with no "hot spot" is ideal for EDC light use. This guy will light up your glove compartment, help you change a flat, light up the interior of the skid loader at 3:30am, help you inspect colors with it's excellent neutral beam temperature, and be a great companion on hikes and camping excursions. I've had mine for a few months, and have now ordered the Ti version to complement my briefcase. You can spend three times as much on a surefire, and have a light that is less capable. If a side-switch EDC light is what you need, look no further. My Benchmade mini-griptillian, and Olight S1 are THE items I grab in the morning from my night table.

Love it!
Much nicer than my larger Olight S10 in brightness and tint. Has a much larger hot spot as well. I'm 100% happy so far. GoingGear rocks in their friendly customer service, and super fast shipping. I love these guys and will always give them my business.

Great form factor, interface, brightness, and beam pattern!
Very nice form factor, brightness, interface and beam pattern. It is replacing my ZebraLight SC52 as my EDC. The only thing I wonder about is the long term scratch resistance of the lens-less design carried in my pocket all the time... Only time will tell, but it is so much smaller with the same output it is worth trying it out to see!
