Love it
I have had this light now for over a year. It is my EDC for home and work. It fits inside my knife pocket on my flight suit. I leave the lanyard dangling out to draw it out with one hand, but normally takes two hands to put it back in the pocket. The lanyard broke after about a year which I replaced with some paracord, not perfect but it functions. I bought two 16340 (EagleTac) rechargeable batteries with a charger which still seem to be holding a charge.

The big seller for me is the adjustable brightness ring, I love this feature!! Adjusting the light for what you need is great! Movie theaters dim it down to see where you are going, around the aircraft twist it up to do your inspections. I never use it with AA batteries so with the extension tube added I have no comment on, but it does add some back up when CR123’s or 16340’s are not available.

If looking for a great EDC light I highly recommend this light. Be sure to get the rechargeable batteries too!

Awesome versatility, power and convenience
Hi I’m Jon and I’m a flashlight junkie. Wow it feel good to say that out loud. And who could blame me? There are dozens of manufacturers and hundreds of models of hand torches to choose from. Flashlight technology has leapt forward light years since the days of your 4 d mag light that weighs 3 lbs. Today is isn’t uncommon to find a single Cr123 battery powered light that blasts 500 lumens of retina scorching beams on the market.

Case in point is the Jetbeam RRTO XML. This pint sized power house is a technological marvel yet is rugged enough for EDC. The RRTO boasts an output of 550 lumens (with RCR123 batteries). Thats like looking at the surface of the sun. But this little gem isn’t just raw power. It also features a rapid control ring for 1 handed operation that allows the user to infinitely adjust the brightness of the light down to .5 lumens. The user interface is simple and intuitive. Aside from the rapid control ring dial adjusting the brightness, it also activates a strobe function with a turn to the far left. There is a memory function that automatically returns the light to its last used power output the next time the light is turned on. I’ve found that its nice to have the wow factor of 550 lumens but most of my use is in the 100 lumen range.

The Jetbeam RRTO also has a feature that I’ve found to be very useful. The light can be powered by CR123, RCR123 lithium ion rechargeable batteries and with an extension tube a single AA battery. I’ve got lots of CR123 powered lights but lately I’ve been moving to lights that at least have the option for AA operation. The RRTO utilizes the CREE XML T6 emitter and can illuminate subjects out to 150 meters. It also can tail stand and meets mil spec standards for impact resistance and is IPX 8 waterproof.

The reflector is slightly textured OP (orange peel) with a lens of toughened ultra clear mineral glass with anti reflective coating. The body is constructed of aero grade aluminum and features a forward clicky switch. The light comes with a few well thought out accessories such as a lanyard, spare rubber tail cap switch cover, spare O ring and a deep cover pocket clip which allows the light virtually disappear in a pocket.

The Jetbeam RRTO XML is a versatile, well built and smart compact light for EDC. At around $90.00 it is not a cheap light but for the long list of features I think it is fairly priced. One could certainly spend much more on a light. Not only has the RRTO made it’s way into my EDC rotation it has lived in my pocket for weeks and I can’t see anything nudging it out any time soon. The 1 handed operation and rapid response control ring make it perfect for many tasks. Be warned if you purchase the Jetbeam RRTO XML it is quite likely I might see you at the next flashlight junkie anonymous meeting.
